Jocelyn + John // Bitely, Michigan
Last Friday I spent the day at a beautiful wedding in Bitely, Michigan… never heard of Bitely? Neither had I, but I couldn’t even imagine a more beautiful setting in Michigan for a wedding. When I pulled up to the property I was like a kid in a candy store so excited to spend the day shooting this incredible property, exploring the grounds and capturing every gorgeous spot that I could. Then it started to rain, and it rained, and it rained some more, then we would check the radar expecting the rain to stop and it would keep raining.
Justin and I have said it many times before that rain on a wedding day is as good or as bad as you make it out to be. Jocelyn and John were troopers, as it downpoured I asked them if they would be willing to try to go out with some umbrellas in the rain and without hesitation they both said yes. So we grabbed our umbrellas, hopped on a gator and off we went, and I think everyone who has had to endure any kind of weather would agree that it was worth it.
The rain took an hour break at the perfect time for their outdoor ceremony and it was beautiful. Overlooking a beautiful lake with all of their family and friends present, Jocelyn and John made a commitment to the Lord that they would spend a lifetime seeking Him together.
As we were shooting in the pouring rain I was watching John and Jocelyn and it was amazing how I would “pose” them a certain way and the minute they locked eyes it was almost like everything around them stopped, the rain, time, and all of their surroundings just went away and the only thing that was left was the two of them. The combination of that bond and their profound faith is going to carry them to big places throughout their lives.
Congratulations John and Jocelyn, thank you for sharing your perfect rainy wedding day with me, I cannot imagine it any other way.
