Janelle + Jake // Grand Rapids, Michigan

We often come across couples who have known each other for a lifetime, high school sweethearts, or childhood friends, but this past weekend we got to meet two families who have known each other since childhood. Janelle and Jake were married on a rainy and beautiful Saturday in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by their friends and their two families who have felt like family to one another for decades.

When Jake applied for officer school, he was accepted to go to a school in northern Michigan. Janelle’s parents then offered to host him at their home while he was training. A few months later, Janelle was home visiting her parents when Jake was staying with them and that was the start of their love story. This past year, Janelle and her mom lost her dad and their lives were changed forever. Jake and his family have served as a pillar of strength to them, walking through the most difficult season. I think for me, it would be so comforting to have my husband not just know my father now but to know him well, during that time of extreme grief.

I am a firm believer that God’s timing and plan is not by coincidence, everything can be used for His good and purpose. It was not coincidence or irony that their love happened the way that it did, it was perfectly planned and I think it shows in exactly how everything in their lives has unfolded thus far. Janelle and Jake are two kind, fun, and easy to love people and we loved every second of their wedding day. We are so thankful to be a part of capturing their special day and getting to know their love story. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Zajac!
