Courtney + Jesse // West Olive, Michigan
This past weekend we spent the perfect sunny fall Sunday Afternoon celebrating two of our dear friends getting married. Jesse and Courtney got married at Camp Blodgett in West Olive, Michigan over looking the beautiful Lake Michigan, and it was the perfect fall day. Honestly, regardless of the sunshine it would have been perfect, these two are electric together. The chemistry they have and the love that they spread is something special that does not go unnoticed. From the moment we met Courtney, Justin and I could not wait for their wedding day, and after waiting and waiting here it was.
During the best man speech before dinner, Jesse’s older brother Jon was telling the story about how Jesse and Courtney met. It was actually a story that I had not heard before and I absolutely loved it, it was so them. They were sitting in a classroom in Tampa where they both attended PT School, there was some sort of class competition and Courtney, in a very funny voice quoted the movie Rat Race saying, “Issa race, issa race, I’m Winning” and it instantly caught Jesse’s attention. Jon went on to rag on them about seeing this movie because of how awful it is… haha but thats besides the point.
He then mentioned how life is strung together with thousand of “insignificant” moments that become incredibly significant. “Life is random, a game of chance, and despite our best efforts we really don’t know where we’re headed or what’s coming next”. One classroom, one silly quote, and that is how Jesse and Courtney met. Had she not said what she said in the goofy voice that she did, we may not have spent our Sunday the way we did.
The reality of these little moments struck me, little decisions and moments change the trajectory of our future. Jesse especially has had a large impact on our life. He has been there as a friend, and as Justin’s physical therapist since his accident. The reality of our friendship, their wedding, and Justin’s accident aligning all at the same time was something amazing. We have so much love and respect for these two and are so incredibly grateful for the role they have played in our lives, and for letting us capture their day. These two could not be a better fit, or love each other more. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you guys, and to watch your adventure continue. Congratulations friends, we cannot put into words how happy we are that you both wasted your time watching Rat Race and ended up together.
