Birth Becomes Her

When Justin and I were expecting our first baby, I knew immediately that I wanted my birth to be a specific type of experience.  I wanted to be prepared, and I knew I wanted it to be photographed.  I was excited and driven, and yet had no idea what to expect.  I wanted my first birth to be an experience that would empower me as an individual and drive me emotionally as a new mom.  Having those moments captured as Seth came into the world are priceless to me.  My birth photos from the day he was born are truly some of the most valuable items I own.

Fast forward two years and here I sit impatiently waiting for baby # 2 to make her appearance; reflecting back on my last birth experience and so much more.  Over the past year and few months, I have had the immense pleasure to walk alongside 6 women through their journey into motherhood.  Birth photography for me has become so much more than a new specialty within JMH Photography; it holds a very special place in my heart.  Now as I sit here wondering when it will again be my turn to greet a new life into the world, I am reflecting on some of the most emotional, raw, perfect moments I have been humbled to experience from behind a camera.

To my dear friends and clients who have allowed me to be a part of these moments, thank you from the deepest part of my heart.  I will be taking each of your experiences, hard work, and love along side of me as I welcome my little lady into the world.  I feel beyond blessed to have been able to grow as a photographer and as a mom because of you all.

Take a minute to browse a few of my favorites.  My goal in my work is to celebrate the beauty that birth is, and to glorify our perfect God who shows His greatness in these new, perfect little lives.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
