I am a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason. Nothing is by chance, the challenges we face, the people we meet, everything we experience in life brings us to a place God has planned out perfectly for us.
This past weekend we ventured to Chicago to celebrate Angie and Kevin. They are good friends of our friends Blake and Emily and after some hiccups while wedding planning, we were able to book with them in the last couple of months to make it to their big day. I have talked a lot about the challenges couples have faced while planning a 2020 / 2021 wedding, and this wedding was no different.
Kevin gave a speech at his wedding that I will never forget. He talked about if it weren’t for his dad pushing him to stay at Marquette University when he wanted to leave, and him getting through the hard times that he did there because of his dads encouragement, he wouldn’t have met the love of his life, and made some of the greatest friends.
His dad passed away while they were planning their wedding very unexpectedly, and yet his presence was palpable. You could tell that he was ingrained in who they are and how Kevin’s life panned out. I was honored to hear his story, it is a story of pain and joy but it also showed the proof that if it wasn’t for the small things that happens in life, and the ways his dad impacted him, things could have looked 100% different. And those people at your side through the peaks and valleys, are everything
Each day what we experience is carrying us to the next day, and now Kevin and Angie get to start the rest of their days together. I know that whatever challenges lay in front of them they will be ready to conquer together and be excited to see what comes next.
