Angela + Sam // Grosse Pointe, Michigan

Angela + Sam’s wedding was one of those days that I was sad when it was over. We had been looking forward to their wedding since the minute we booked and then after getting to know them over the span of some other weddings and their engagement photos, we grew to love them. I have said it a million times and I will say it again, this Grosse Pointe crew is my favorite. They have taken us in like we are life long friends and with each wedding I am sad when they are over.

It’s no secret that this season has been a difficult one for our family and Angela had the opportunity to catch me on one of the days that was a little rougher than the others. I felt like I was talking to an old friend on the phone and her calming sweet heart was exactly what I needed at that specific moment in time.

I think one of my absolute favorite moments from their wedding day was when Sam’s best friend Alex gave his best man speech and told his “pickle story”. The story was about how every time they would go out to eat Sam always gave him the pickle off of his plate… so he had the assumption that Sam didn’t like pickles. Years later they were out to eat and Alex gave him a hard time about not sharing his pickle with him because he always did and he didn’t like pickles…. Sam told him “I am going to eat it… I always shared with you because I knew you like pickles”. It’s a simple story that made me smile. It truly showed what genuine friendship looks like and what it means to just love on a friend.

Friendship and marriage can be complicated at times but it doesn’t always have to be, sometimes its as easy as seeing something that will make the other person feel seen or heard and taking the time to be a listening ear with patience and compassion, or sometimes it looks like sharing a pickle with a hungry friend. These two are something special, with a decade together under their belt, it will be exciting to see what this next chapter holds. Thank you Sam and Angela for trusting us with your special day, it was one we will never forget.
